Who we are
John Dwyer Bakery Ltd was founded by John and Jackie Dwyer in the wonderful market town of Rugby in 1989 with one retail outlet and a handful of wholesale accounts.
In the early days it was very much a two person operation with John doing all the baking, packing and deliveries whilst Jackie took care of the office, orders, invoicing and administration side of the business.
It was identified early that the growth was in the wholesale business so the decision was taken to close the retail shop and concentrate efforts on building a successful wholesale bakery.
History has shown that this was a correct decision as rapid growth has seen the business expand four times in the last 30 years. Investment in quality equipment has continued and in tandem with a highly skilled team this has driven the production capacity which in turn has seen us increase to a large fleet of twelve delivery vans, delivering six day per week from Rugby to customers cross a 50 mile radius – which covers a huge population of the Midlands.
The business continues to prosper, develop and modernise whilst retaining the craft bakery heritage and focus on quality that John started in 1989.

Our small team have many years of bakery experience and knowledge. We recognise that people are key to John Dwyer Bakery’s success and we continue to develop our people through training and investment in their skills, we encourage them to develop, we challenge and support them.

We bake delicious hearty bloomers, a fantastic range of bread and bread rolls in white, brown and seeded varieties. All of our morning goods and breads are baked fresh every day, our ovens are fired up twenty four hours and Every ingredient is carefully selected and blended to create delicious bread that’s both wholesome and nutritious we don’t compromise on quality we believe the investment in high-end raw materials demonstrates our commitment to quality.
Take our flour as an example, our supplier has several standards available . . . and the cost reflects it! But we don’t choose the lowest price, we don’t choose the middle price we invest in above average quality flour so we are confident the finished product will exceed our customer’s expectations, when they purchase a john Dwyer Bakery product they can guarantee they will have a wonderful experience.
As the customer’s tastes change, become more varied, experimental and adventurous, we know we need to move with the times therefore new product development is something we invest our time in. Customer feedback, trade shows, trade press and the thoughts, ideas and suggestions of our team are all vital to ensuring we remain in touch with our customer requirements.
